In this , we are going to see about Anatomical planes of the body. ANATOMICAL PLANES In human body , there are 3 fundamental planes of body. These are Midsagittal plane Sagittal plane Coronal plane Transverse plane 1. Midsagittal plane Also known as Median longitudinal plane. Passes longitudinally through the sagittal suture (midline). Divides the body into equal right and left halves. These halves are generally symmetrical in structure, the same symmetry does not apply to all internal structures. 2. Sagittal plane Also konwn as Parasagittal plane. Any longitudinal plane which passes parallel to the midsagittal plane. Divides the body into unequal right and left halves. 3. Coronal plane Also known as Frontal plane. Passes longitudinally at right angles to the median plane. Divides the body into anterior and posterior portions.
